A day at the zoo

This last week we had the opportunity to go to the zoo for free. There’s nothing like getting in the whole family for free.  It seems that we tend to make it to the zoo about every 3-4 years and usually in the dead of summer when it’s a killer hot day. This time we went in the fall which was awesome. No one was there. The animals were all out moving and wandering. The temperature was perfect! We also finally got to see the new exhibits and changes they have made over the last few years that have really improved it. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This was Belen’s first time to the zoo, so she was pretty excited to see all the live animals up and moving.

The tiger was one of our favorites. He was up pacing and constantly roaring. He was beautiful in every way. I could have stayed there for quite a while just watching him. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I was really hoping to see the polar bear in the water swimming, but he was in a pacing mood as well. He hopped in for a brief swim which I caught right as he was climbing out. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I love the addition of the Rocky Shores.  I love sealions!  It reminds me of some of the summer vacations we took to the Washington and Oregon coast. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAIt was a good day. We had a great time going for up for the morning. We saw everything we wanted by the time it started warming up. The only down side was the hour we sat in traffic due to an accident prior to getting there. But even that didn’t ruin the great day we had. The only thing that could have made it better was to have dad there with us. But I guess someone has to work and pay the bills.
